Joelishia Banfield, 2014 Kids’ Dreams Scholar

We would like to congratulate Joelishia Banfield on graduating summa cum laude from Florida Atlantic University this spring, 2017. Kids’ Dreams has been a part of Joelisha’s college journey since fall semester 2014. With impeccable determination and focus she graduated with a 3.9 G.P.A. The College of Science had a total of 541 graduates and Joelishia was one of twenty that received the honors of summa cum laude.

courtlyn-patrickIntroducing Courtlyn Patrick, 2016 Kids' Dreams Scholar

Courtlyn is a first year Business Administration student at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. During this first semester Courtlyn has been very active. She was invited to participate in FAMU's SGA Freshmen Leadership Institute, joined the Big Sisters/Little Sisters program, applied for the 2017 Orientation Leader Team and applied to be a Peer Mentor. Courtlyn also declared her candidacy for Freshman Senator and participated in a full campaign. She is approaching the end of her first semester and currently preparing for her final round of exams.

"Although challenging at times, my transition and experience thus far have been so rewarding."

We look forward to continuing our mentorship and support of Courtlyn through her college years.


Musiq, 2016 Young Singer of the Palm Beaches Scholar

Kids' Dreams proudly sponsors Musiq a Young Singer of the Palm Beaches scholarship to enable her to perfect her music talent. Musiq is a 3rd grader at a Palm Beach County Title 1 school. Music is a passion of hers. In addition to singing in the Treble Choir of Young Singers of the Palm Beaches, she also plays the violin, cello, and loves to dance.

November and December have been Very Busy months for this talented young lady. Musiq has performed in multiple performances with the Young Singers of the Palm Beaches at the Center for Creative Education, as well as performing as principle cellist with her schools Beethoven Orchestra.

Cebrina St. Pierre, 2016 Kids' Dreams Scholar

Cebrina St. Pierre has been a Kids' Dreams scholar since she began her spring semester in January 2016 at Palm Beach State College, majoring in Psychology and Nursing. Cebrina is a dedicated student who cares deeply about learning and has an exceptional sense of leadership and responsibility.

Maria Barrientos, 2015 Kids' Dreams Scholar

Maria Barrientos is a 2015 Kids' Dreams Scholar who now attends Florida State University. She has since finished her first semester with a 3.58 overall GPA. Maria is currently majoring in Criminology and plans to later achieve a law degree.

"I am a first generation. This year I will be the first to graduate high school in my family, as well as the first to pursue a college career. My parents are originally from Mexico, where their education does not exceed a middle school level. I am my family’s translator, speaker, and the one they all go to when they need help. Read More...

Lindjee Noziere has been a Kids' Dreams scholar since 2014, attending her freshman year at Florida Atlantic University. Lindjee moved from Haiti to the United States when she was 15 and developed rapidly in High School classes for non-native speakers. Lindjee is now pursuing her dream at FAU to become a physician.

"I lived in my native country, Haiti for 15 years, and then the inevitable happened. I lost my mother due to horrible circumstances; I lost her through an earthquake that took place in Haiti in 2010. Rood Emmanuel performed in the Alan Lebow Awards for Excellence in Shakespearean Performance in 2012, 2013 and 2014 before applying to the Kids' Dreams Scholarship to attend University of Florida. Rood is now a sophomore at UF, majoring in Psychology. Rood is also minoring in Health Disparities and Non-Profit Leadership, as he has founded his own non-profit organization, Igniting Dreams.

"My objective is to become a Medical Doctor but I will take my experiences gained in the Alan Lebow Awards to further my education. Throughout high school, the Alan Lebow Shakespeare Competition has opened a lot of doors for me. Read More...

Joelishia Banfield has been a Kids' Dreams Scholar since her fall semester of 2014 at Florida Atlantic University. Joelishia is an active member in her community and her church, spending much of her time in volunteering. She has just recently been awarded her Associate in Arts degree after her first year at FAU. Joelishia plans to continue her education, pursuing her dual major in Psychology and Criminal Justice to become involved in the field of Forensic Science.

"As a senior in high school I was that one student that was always in the guidance office waiting for new scholarship applications to surface. I had already had my transcripts, recommendations, and even sample essays ready to be put together to get the applications done as soon as possible. Merancia was awarded the very first Kids’ Dreams scholarship. She was mentored by Pat DiSalvo, a Kids’ Dreams board member. She has now graduated from University of Florida and has been accepted to law school!
"My parents have always taught me a lesson about opportunities, they are rare. If not taken when encountered, the possibilities are quickly taken away. Those who take full advantage of the opportunities set before them, witness the blessings it endures. My opportunity came from the Kids Dreams Foundation. Sitting in a room with complete strangers questioning me about family and financial instability, I did not want to share anything at first.
