3D PRINTING & DESIGN AT COX SCIENCE CENTER

Students learned how 3D printers work through a printing simulator within the software of the 3D printer. We also discussed the advantages and disadvantages of using 3D printers over other manufacturing methods. The students also got a chance to enter a 3D modeling environment using TinkerCAD’s online software. Through this software, they gained an understanding of how 3D models can be created, as well as some best practices for creating models that are intended for 3D printers. They then created a custom key chain that was printed at the science center and shipped to their school when it was completed.
